Our intrepid heroes set off towards Dormo Vella, in search of adventure, profit and in Henrick’s case, getting his broken weapon mended (no, not a visit to the apothecary, his morningstar…. oh gods damn it the jokes write themselves).
Along the way they encounter a strange elderly man tied to a tree who says he has lost the lottery. It seems a local farming community has been ravaged for sometime by a great beast, but they had found by sacrificing one of their own to it once a month the beast would leave the people alone. Having run out of drunks, wife beaters and ne’er-do-wells, the people resorted to drawing straws, and this poor fellow got the short one.
The Party awaits the arrival of the “beast”, and after a particularly difficult battle with a behir (the beast) the party is victorious.
The Party party’s it up with the farmers, then heads off to Dormo Vella. Once there the party looks for work, Elost visits a brothel and Henrick looks for a way to get his morningstar fixed, which he does (though the party does have to go back and skin the Behir carcass for the temple of Quett to get the morningstar fixed).
The Party, without anything else to do, decided to head to Diversiontown to settle some old scores.
On the way they come across a destroyed merchant caravan and a man hanging in a web cocoon from a tree. They free the man and he explains he was a guard and the caravan was attacked by strange pale elves and Bugbears.
The party tracked the attackers to a cave complex, where they spotted three bugbears and an elf on a ledge. Elost turned the support of the ledge to flesh with a stone to flesh spell. Two of the bugbears fell to the ground before the party, the other and the elf leapt into the cave mouth.
The Elf summoned a Blue Dragon to assist, though the party quickly determined it was an illusion. The Bugbears were then dispatched without much trouble, as was the elf-like being.
The Party then proceeded further into the cave where they encountered an Ettercap and two huge hunting spiders, which were again dispatched with relative ease.
Moving further in, the party again encounters a number of bugbears, this time across a chasm, and another aranea. They bluff their way onto the drawbridge, but the aranea drops the bridge, forcing the party to hang on or plummet. After a difficult battle the party came out victorious. Descending the chasm they encountered 9 more bugbears eight of which Henrick defeated single handedly.
Moving ever further deeper into the cave complex the party encountered another pair of hunting spiders and their ettercap master. The battle was difficult, and Ezekiel was bitten and nearly killed by spider poison. After defeating their enemies, the party discovers this chamber is a disturbing part prison part larder. Those prisoners not ransomed are eaten. Genevieve de Guare, owner of a local merchant trading company is one of the prisoners, Ezekiel’s former employer.
The party left Ezekiel in Genevieve’s care and continued to explore, eventually discovering a passage overhead. Henrick went through and was promptly webbed.
The others followed and an extremely dangerous encounter with four Aranea’s and their leader, Mettik. Elost is knocked unconscious in the ensuing battle and only through divine intervention (Henrick’s channelled healing ability) was the party able to successfully defeat their foes. In the end they recovered the following loot
2 Yellow Potions
